Black & White Stripes

Good news for zebras and jailbirds: You're completely chic right now! Celebrities everywhere have been embracing the bold, graphic combo of black and white stripes, and it won't take too long for you too to start loving this easy-to-pull-off trend.

This dark against light, black with white monochrome fashion look is classic, and the perfect choice right now for any money-savvy fashionistas. Long after coloured garments have faded into last season's oblivion you will still be able to wear monochrome classics that stand the test of time.

If you are put off by the fear of the unappealing optical illusion that horizontal lines might have on you, don't. Follow these simple tips and you'll be on the right track in no time :

1. Keep horizontal stripes loose, follow a go 1-size-up rule, to stop them clinging and having a widening effect on your figure.
2. Vertically striped skirts or trousers can make you look taller, especially worn with a solid-colored top or T-shirt. Diagonal stripes have the same effect.
3. For an everyday look, dont overdo the stripes. A
single piece is stylish, head-to-toe is not. Team a monochromed stripey outfit with a solid color or some shiny patent or satin shoes.
4. Narrow stripes look best on petite frames, and if you are fuller in one part of your body than you would like, then consider a
thicker stripes; or stripey style with a single color-block in that area. For example, if you are big-busted then a dress with a plain black bodice and monochrome-striped skirt will be a real figure-flatter.

Long Cardi

Want to give that favourite plain T-shirt of yours a new look? Try this burnout printed long cardigan for a change! Pair it with your Converse a'la Drew Barrymore.

Or vamp it up Blake Lively style with a pair of heels and a LBD (or a white summer dress) over a pair of skinny jeans. Sweet!

You can leave the cardigan open, or cinch it with a belt to emphasize your waist. The long cardigan trend can be paired off with a cocktail/summer dress, just make sure that it's the same length, or slightly shorter than your dress.

FASHION WATCH : Blazers

One of the staple in every fashionista's wardrobe this spring/summer is the blazer. Be it the boyfriend blazer or cropped blazer, or printed blazer, they are 'in'.

How to wear them on a casual day out without looking too primp or formal? Here's some ideas and tips gathered from some of the hottest celebs at the moment.

1. Pair it with a slightly oversized T-shirt, with loud prints. If you want to make a statement and wear your favourite band but with elegance, a blazer is the answer.

You can never go wrong with Kate Moss. Prison-ringlets with sharp black blazer. Timeless.
Black blazer could be a bit too predictable so opt for a nude coloured one, ála Alexa Chung here. A cropped blazer with an oversized T-shirt is my personal favourite as it cuts your proportion in the middle, giving an illusion of a longer torso.

Pairing a blazer with a white shirt gives that effortless chic vibe, but experiment with colours to create an interesting twist; like this pastel-coloured-striped T-shirt. More stripe.

2. Wear it with a summer dress, skinny/tight-fitted jeans underneath and complete the outift with a pair of cute wedges or flats to achieve that summery look.

I love how Alexa seems to always look like she just threw on whatever it is that she managed to grab before going out of the house but end up looking so flawlessly fashionable without overdoing the look. My favourite fashion icon at the moment ;) She's also wearing stripes.

More stripes. I think that old adage that nobody can look good in horizontal stripes can be thrown out of the window by now, if you pair them off with the right item. So, blazer trend simplified; whether you decide to go casual with a T-shirt or to turn up the flirty meter up a bit with a dress underneath, take your own pick.
